February 28th is observed as National Science Day all over India. The theme for this year is “Science for the people and the people for science”. It was celebrated on the 26th of February in our campus by conducting various technical events at the intra college level.
The session was inaugurated by invoking the blessings of God. Dr.N.Oumabady, our beloved Principal welcomed the gathering and explained the significance of National Science Day celebration. The inaugural address was delivered by our Director, Prof. Michael N.Kumar. He shared his memories of Sir C.V.Raman’s laboratory at IISc Bangalore. The co-ordinator of the event, Dr.A.Mary Saroja, HoD, Science and Humanities delivered the Science Day address. Prof.Raman’s Noble prize winning discovery, the Raman Effect and its application was explained. She motivated the students to utilise science and technology for the benefit of the people.
Various competitions like oral presentation, Group discussion, Wealth out of waste, Connexion and Just a Minute were conducted for the students. The day ended with the distribution of prizes to the winners by the Director and Principal. Dr.K.Balamurugan, Professor of English proposed the Vote of Thanks.
