International Conference on Advanced Concepts in Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICACCES’19) was conducted on March 15th, 2019. Nearly 248 papers were submitted to the conference from the states of Puducherry, Tamilnadu and foreign countries like Singapore, Bangladesh. 158 papers were shortlisted based on review reports and nearly 325 participants comprising of UG and PG research scholars, faculty participated and presented their research papers. Dr.Kother Mohideen, Assoc. Professor, Jazan University, Saudi Arabia delivered the keynote address on recent trends in data science. The proceedings of the conference were released by administrator Shri. M. V. Ramanathan and received by Dr.Kother Mohideen. The chief guest and participants were welcomed by the Principal Dr. N.Oumabady and the conference convenor Dr. J. Samuel Manoharan delivered the conference report. The vote of thanks was delivered by the co-patron Prof. S. Krishnamoorthy.
Women are subjected to sexual harassment irrespective of their age. Women need to develop their own knowledge to protect themselves from any such evil deed. Hence, a session was conducted on 14 March to our girl students in such a way to alert them. All lady faculty members volunteered to participate and discussed with the students on the sexual assaults which were publicised in the social media in the recent past. The students were briefed on how to encounter such situations and were encouraged to confide, in the event of such incidences to their parents or teachers instead of suppressing them. The students were motivated to be bold and made to understand “Prevention is better than Cure”
Many students volunteered and gave their opinion on how such incidents can be avoided. All students agreed that no one should respond to friend requests from unknown persons in social networks. Ms.Sangeetha of Final year CSE elaborated on the legal aspects of self-defence and explained section 100 of IPC. To prevent transfer of information from the mobile, Ms.Swathika of Final year ECE suggested installing the Google authentication app. This app gets confirmation from the individual before any data is transferred from the mobile. Every student agreed that they cannot be trapped if they are vigilant and resolved to be courageous in encountering such situations.
On account of 48th National Safety week observed by ONGC cultivate and successive a safety culture for building Nation “Is that reason for accident move by an individual are the Ambience”. Competition was organized in the campus by ONGC-Cauvery Asset Karaikal.

Bharathiyar College of Engineering & Technology celebrated Women’s Day on 5.3.19 and 7.3.19 in a grand manner. In this function, about 150 students participated from more than ten colleges situated in and around Karaikal. The celebrations included many cultural events and cash prizes for the winners were given and certificates were distributed for the women students participated in the events.
Shri.M.V.Ramanathan, Admistritrator of the college presided over the function. Dr.N.Oumabady, Principal of the college gave welcome address. Dr.G.Geetha, Grade I Principal of Thiru.Vi.Ka.Government Arts College, Thiruvarur, was the Chief Guest of the function and addressed the gathering. In her address, she gave motivation and ideas for moulding themselves for their future, being courageous enough. The charwomen of the college were given prizes to recognize their work. Dr.M.Malathi, organized the function and rendered Vote of Thanks. All arrangements were made by the staff members and students of Bharathiyar College of Engineering & Technology.

Ayesha Natarasan and presided by distinguished administrator Shri. M.V. Ramanathan.The programme started with welcome address by G. Manikandan, Student of Final Year Mechanical Engineering.Respected Principal Dr. N. Oumabady addressed the gathering on the significance of college magazine.
Mr.P. Balasundaram, Assistant Professor introduced the Chief Guest in an efficient way then the college annual magazine “VANAM VASAPPADUM” is released by Era. Ayesha Natarasan and the first copy received by administrator Shri. M.V. Ramanathan. The sponsor of the programme Vijay Makkal Iyakkam are honoured.
The chief guest appreciated the editorial team headed by Dr. R. Anburaj, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering for guiding his team. Era. Ayesha Natarasan remembered about Sir.C.V. Raman, Sir. M. Visvesvarya, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and so many works of several scientists and engineers.
The Chief Guest praised few articles in the magazine VANAM VASAPPADUM in an enthusiastic way. He read out one letter written by a father whose son is in abroad which is selected and prized by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for that the audience and gave a great applause in standing ovation.
Best article writers were honoured by the Chief Guest and the programme ended with vote of thanks by the student of Final year Mechanical S. Suman.
Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Physical Education organized two days inter collegiate sports event in the name of MECH E SPO-19 on 7th and 8th March-2019. In this event various colleges from Tamilnadu and Pondicherry state participated. The tournament was inaugurated by Mr. Raja Nahendiren, commander, Indian coast guard. In cricket tournament, EGS Pillai group of institution won the winner title and NIT, Puducherry is the Runner. In volley ball tournament Aringar Anna Arts College won the winner title and Bharathiyar College of Engineering and Technology is the Runner.Mr.K. Mathiazhagan, Additional Director of Agriculture and Mr. M.V.Ramanathan, Administrator, BCET distribute the prizes and certificates.
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in collaboration with Institution of Engineers (India) IEI-Puducherry State Center jointly conducted a one day workshop on “Printed Antenna Modeling”. Around 240 students from other engineering colleges participated in this one day workshop. Before hand, the inauguration of student chapter of IEI in BCET was conducted with final year ECE students volunteering to become members in the prestigious IEI with Mr.P.Sankaranarayanan (AP/ECE) as the advisor of the chapter. The inauguration of the function was scheduled on 22nd February 2019 which started with a welcome address by the Principal Dr N. Oumabady followed by introduction of Dr. R. Saravanane FIE, Chairman of IEI- Puducherry State Center and Dr. B. Radjaram FIE, Hon. Secretary of IEI – Puducherry State Center by the HoD Dr J. Samuel Manoharan, It was followed by the unveiling of plaque by BCET administrator Shri M.V.Ramanathan. The Chairman and Hon. Secretary, IEI – Puducherry State Center delivered the felicitation address.
The college campus was vibrating with music, dance and grandeur on the 30th of Nov, a cultural bonanza conducted by Bharathiyar college of Engineering & Technology and sponsored by Karaikal Port. It was the Bharathiyar Cultural Fest 2018 for school children of class 9 to class 12. Students from about 30 schools in and around Karaikal region were showcasing their talents in various cultural events like Solo song (Carnatic), Solo song (light music), Solo Dance (classical), Pencil sketching, Rangoli, Group dance (western), Group dance (Folk) and Variety show. The Director Prof. Michael N kumar presided over the function and the Principal Prof.N.Oumabady inaugurated the function. The programme served as a platform for the students to bring out the very best in them and a tough competition prevailed in all the competitions. Students had an opportunity to witness the skills of their friends from other institutions and get to know each other. A chess competition was also organised on that day and it was conducted by Mr.Mathivanan, President of Karaikal Chess Association. The Director and Principal distributed the prizes to the winners. To encourage the students, all the student participants were given a certificate of appreciation. On the whole, it was a memorable day.

The National Workshop on Multi client Application Development was successfully jointly organized by Department of CSE/IT/MCA on 25th September 2018. The workshop program received an overwhelming response with 142 participants from Ten colleges in and around Pudhucherry, Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh states.
